The story of Gracelyn: Maternity, Birth, Fresh 48 and Milestone

The amount of sessions and images in this post should give you some insight into how horrible I am at staying up to date on the blog but I vow to start doing better about posting regularly!

One of the BEST things about this job is that sometimes I get to meet such incredible people and form beautiful friendships. I had several mutual friends with Chelsea and had heard of her or met her several times before but through photography, I have gotten to know her on a personal level and she has become a great friend. Prior to this, I had actually already done a couple sessions for Chelsea to document where she was in life prior to becoming pregnant with Gracelyn so when she told me her big news, I was so excited for her! (Not to mention incredibly honored that she trusted me to capture such special memories and milestones for her and her growing family).

For Chelsea’s maternity session we decided that documenting her at home, where she is comfortable and where her and Miss G (her adorable nickname for baby Gracelyn) would be spending most of their time together, was perfect. Chelsea showed me the special decorations people had bought or had made including a very special blanket from her grandmother. I was able to experience her (and Maggie’s) excitement as they prepared the nursery and home for the arrival of the baby. Then we headed outside to take some beautiful portraits so Chelsea could always remember exactly how motherhood looked on her (which was gorgeous by the way)!

When the day came for Miss G to make her appearance, Chelsea had a waiting room full of love and excitement. I met them at the hospital to take some photos of her during labor and then went back home to let her rest and spend time with her support system. When I headed back up later that evening, Chelsea was being taken back for a c-section and everyone was nervous but Miss G’s daddy said that Chelsea was happy to be meeting her baby girl soon.

Finally, Gracelyn was here and she was so beautiful and LOVED. I was able to document so many firsts and meetings for Chelsea and her family and it was such a huge honor to be a part of something so special. I will never forget how happy Chelsea was to be holding her sweet girl and to finally be a mommy-something she had wanted for a very long time.

I cannot believe it has already been over 3 months since that day and was so thrilled when I got to go back to Chelsea’s house to document Gracelyn’s growth and this big milestone. We met up early to grab some pictures on the Outlaw Angus Farm (owned by Chelsea’s family) and then went back to her house to capture some images of them snuggled up and being authentic with each other. I cannot wait to document more of Miss G as she grows up and learns how loved she really is.
